Snowy Fidalgo Island

Snow on Fidalgo Island? It is known to occur perhaps once or twice a year in the wintertime. Fortunately for me, it happened while I was here! Soft, gentle yet very dry snowflakes blanketed the landscape during a twenty-four hour period. In spite of the freezing temperatures, I, of course, couldn't resist heading out with my Nikon to document the beautiful snowy scenes around Washington Park and Skyline Marina...

This happened on February 23 and there's still a bit of it lingering around, slowly melting away...But now I'm ready for warmer temperatures and springtime.

Snow is so wonderful and beautiful when it is scarce, or rare. I love your photos, Linnea, much better than the scene outside the window here. It is very, very cold here. It's so cold, you don't even want to know how cold it is.
The beach sign made me laugh, but the picnic table looks lost and lonely. The photos with the deeper blue sky are lovely!

That is a great series of photos. I like the snow and berries shot the best.

Another great series of photos Linnea. My favorite is the slanted tree near the rocks jutting out into the water. Enjoy!

snow has the ability to beautify anything. was hoping we'd get some flurries about town, but only rain came down.

Great photo series on this latest snowfall. It makes things so pretty!

It's funny the images from the marina, especially with the blue sky, seem incongruous....looks like a sunny, summer photo, but then there's the snow! How fun is that! :)

When I look at the landscape images I can just feel that heavy silence that comes with snowfall. Very nice.

The snow looked very cold, but still beautiful, and your photos are fantastic..

Brrrr! Now I feel cold! You had a good long walk out in the snow to capture all these. Were you still in Anacortes last week when snow was forecast in the SF Bay area?

Beautiful, beautiful photos. I had never heard of Fidalgo Island, but now I want to go...it's just that after seeing your blog, I will have to program my mind to realize that looking like a winter wonderland is not the island's norm!

Beautiful picures. I went to Washington State for work a while ago, and visited beautiful Vashon Island where I have a friend.
