Washington Park is just one of the many beautiful parks on Fidalgo Island, but it's probably the most popular among the locals. It has a boat launch and camp ground, picnic areas and hiking trails, and simply put one of the most spectacular locations for any park I've ever been to. A local businessman, Tonjes Havekost, donated to the city the park's original eight acres with the understanding that it would be a park for everybody. Over the years, the park expanded through gifts and purchases, and now it consists of 220 acres. People come here to enjoy the beaches, watch the wildlife, hike or bike the trails, or admire the everchanging skies. Thank you Mr. Havecost for your generous donation!
