Yesterday we took an afternoon drive along the Chaukanut Highway, which is a scenic alternative to the speedier Interstate 5 route. The picturesque 21 mile highway connects the Skagit Valley in the south with Bellingham to the north and winds its way through farmland and along the rocky shoulder of the Chaukanut Mountains. Here are a few scenes from the stretch of the roadway along the coastline...
Larrabee State Park offers pretty vistas and hiking trails...
The highway passes through Fairhaven before ending up in Bellingham. Here's the boardwalk at Boulevard Park where you can walk out over the water and enjoy the harbor views...
Lastly, we stopped off in the historical district of Fairhaven, known for its beautifully restored brick buildings and abundance of shops and restaurants...

Looks like a wonderful place to visit, great photos.
Love travelling with you. I too find that taking the longer route takes you to the prettiest spots.
