Around Skyline, Anacortes

Skyline, a pleasant and popular neighborhood located in the northwest corner of Fidalgo Island, is very close to my favorite park and the Washington State ferry terminal. I've never seen it with so much snow before, and luckily I arrived just in time to take lots of photos before the snow turned to slush. Take a look...

The main drag leading to Flounder Bay...

The Red Robins were easy to spot...

Old Salts provides all the necessities for arriving and departing sailors - especially booze...

Lots of boats in this part of the island, too...

Here's Flounder Bay draped in snow...

Not too often you see a snowman around here...

Here are some of my favorite older homes...

Looks like we got a few inches of snow this time...

More Robins in search of water...

and a Holly bush in full bloom...
I wonder if I'll ever see Skyline with so much snow again?

Historic Downtown Anacortes

The snow is now gone, but come take a look at historic downtown Anacortes. It's full of interesting boutiques, pubs, art galleries, and, of course, lots of life-sized murals. Here's a little glimpse...

Have you ever been to quaint old Anacortes before?

Winter Wonderland in Washington Park

I never tire of Washington Park or of photographing its scenic beauty. Come take another stroll with me through the park and enjoy some more snowy images.

Washington Park offers lots to do besides just hiking around...

It's one of the most popular places to launch small boats...

Here's the boat dock - and two nutty boys trying to make it rock and roll...

Seagulls enjoying the views...

Snow capped islands as seen from Sunset Beach...

There is lots of wild life to observe here...

There is year round ferry traffic to watch too...

Here's the loop road covered in snow - an unusual sight...

And one of the many benches...

A smaller water taxi transporting islanders...

Beautiful evergreens...

...everywhere you look...

Here's the lookout point with views of the San Juans...

That's Mt. Erie in the distance - the highest point on Fidalgo Island...

More views from the lookout point...

Skyline neighborhood as seen from the lookout point...
Be sure to visit Washington Park if you ever come to Anacortes. No matter what time of year, it's a spectacular place to enjoy the natural beauty of the Pacific Northwest.
