Skagit Valley Tulip Festival

Skagit Valley is a picturesque farming community in northwestern Washington. In springtime all focus is on the magnificent daffodil and tulip fields. This year I arrived just in time for the tulip festival. Even the sunshine made an appearance for me. Come take a look at the spectacular variety of tulips that caught my eye as I walked through the Skagit Valley tulip fields...

The festival continues through the month of April, so if you hurry, you can still visit this marvelous display of flowering tulips. Here's a link: Tulip Festival

Old Town Yreka

The sun came out just long enough for me to head into the historical part of Yreka and stroll around its downtown. There was a lot to photograph. In particular, Miner Street offers the visitor a glimpse into the town's past as a once thriving mining center. The name Yreka comes from the Indian name Wyrekah, which means white mountain. And today the mountains surrounding the quaint town were all topped with lots white from the snowstorm. Come along and take a look...

Happy Easter!

A little bit of spring popping out...

This friendly resident, Gene, insisted that I photograph him...

Yreka is definitely worth a quick stop, and I'm sure it is even more colorful during the warm summer months.

Yreka, CA

I'm trying to head north for spring break but got stuck here in Yreka, a gold-rush era town near the Oregon border. Seems that spring really hasn't arrived yet, at least not in and around the Siskiyou Mountains. I'm hanging out at a motel in hopes that the roads will be cleared for travel tomorrow...

The parking lot is starting to fill up and the snow hasn't let up...
