Middle Harbor Shoreline Park, Oakland

Where can you find spectacular vistas of the San Francisco and Oakland skylines, see shipping traffic passing by, watch the giant freight cranes in action, and have no trouble finding a parking spot? At Middle Harbor Shoreline Park in Oakland, that's where.

Last Sunday we braved the freezing temps and took a short drive to a park we had never visited before. We were pleasantly surprised to find such a clean, well designed park so close to home. It has plenty of parking, clean restrooms, fabulous picnic areas, vista towers, a fishing pier, walking trails, a beach, and a small museum...and as yet, no graffiti! A big front was moving in, so the sky was very dramatic and the winds were howling; perhaps that's why we were the only ones there! Come take a look and enjoy...

You found so much lovely stuff out there by the water. The cranes, dolphins and water was so lovingly displayed by you.

Such a beautiful park, and what a lucky day, no one else there! It would be amazing to see all those cranes and humongous boats in person. I wonder if my sister has ever been to this park... I'll have to forward your post to her. :)

Beautiful skies, Linnea. Looks like a great place to walk. I particularly enjoyed the silhouette yacht against the almost monotone water and sky, and the beautiful rainbow colours immediately below it.
