Lima, Peru

This time my travels took me south to the land of the Incas.
First stop: Lima.

Here is the garden of our small, quaint hotel in the heart of Miraflores...

Lima is notorious for its lingering, coastal fog and gray skies....

My travel buddy and I took a taxi over to a swanky outdoor
shopping mall "Larcomar" built on the bluffs overlooking
the Pacific Ocean...

The city it trying to revitalize the beaches by
making them "green" and more user friendly...

Here's the flashy Marriott Hotel...

We of course indulged in Pisco Sours....

The historic district of downtown Lima is
very charming and picturesque...

Lovely colonal style architecture surrounds the main plaza...

Here's the main post office...

Lots of churches...

Most of the buildings have recently received fresh coats of paint...

Vendors selling balloons...

Watching the setting sun...

An interesting old building along the pedestrian zone...

The cathedral lit up at night...

In spite of the dreary skies, I loved Lima - especially the old town. Next stop: Puno.

I've always wanted to try an authentic Pisco Sour. How was it?

Thank you for the great photos. What a beautiful place Lima is! The town seems to use yellow a lot. Could it be to cheer up the foggy skies? But the night sky over the cathedral is so pretty. It's as if someone has painted. The photo of the lingering coastal fog reminded me of the foggy coastal town of Pacifica near San Francisco.

Love the historic buildings... and your hotel looks so quaint and relaxing! I think my sis reminisced about Pisco Sours when they went to Argentina??! The drink name sounds familiar...

I'm getting sleepy, so I'm going to bed now but I'll be back tomorrow to finish looking at all your pics that you've posted so far. I will have to live vicariously through you, since I will not get to Peru anytime soon!! :)
